Wade’s Story
Raised in a narrow row home near Irvington in Baltimore City, Wade attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, where he fell in love with math. After Poly, Wade went on to Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) and soon after married Evelyn Buhl of Arbutus. Their nearly three decades of marriage are Wade’s proudest accomplishment.
Both Wade and Evelyn taught middle school for the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS)—Evelyn was a social studies teacher at Hereford Middle, while Wade taught math all over the county. Wade eventually moved into the BCPS Audit office to focus on the elimination of wasteful spending in the school system.
While in college, Wade chaired the Maryland Federation of College Republicans. It was there, as a College Republican, that Wade first learned to persevere against overwhelming liberal majorities with thoughtful, diligently prepared, well-reasoned arguments.
Wade cut his teeth in the Maryland House of Delegates alongside Ellen Sauerbrey and Bob Ehrlich—the trio represented Northern Baltimore County together in the same district. In service to his neighbors and friends in North County, Wade has introduced and passed dozens of bills requested from the community related to everything from new home construction to disaster readiness to drunk driving laws.
Wade and Evelyn have lived on Ashland Road near Valley View Farms for over 20 years with their two Himalayan cats, who graciously allow Wade to stay at their home.
The proud uncle of Charles & Andrew, both of whom attend UMBC, Wade also enjoys time with his 91-year-old mother, who still lives on her own, along with many dear old friends. Wade is a devoted fan of the Beatles and his assortment of model trains, rivaled only by Evelyn’s ever-growing postcard collection!
