Scholarships

All Maryland residents attending a college or university in the State of Maryland are eligible for the House of Delegates Scholarship. Seniors in high school, students currently enrolled in a two or four-year college, along with those seeking postgraduate and professional degrees may apply for the scholarship. Awards are fairly modest–typically around $500–but, as most families know, every little bit helps.

Students with a “unique major” (i.e., a major not offered at any Maryland college or university) may be eligible for a scholarship to an out-of-state school, pending approval by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. To verify unique major status, students must complete the Unique Major Application and submit it to the Higher Education Commission with the required documentation.

Students whose parents cannot claim them as dependents for tax purposes need not complete portions of the application pertaining to parents, nor do they require a parent’s signature. There is no need to write an essay or submit letters of recommendation.

All forms due back by Friday, April 6, 2012. Good luck with the rest of the academic year!
